Adults are person or animal who has reached the full growth.The biological meaning of the term refers to animals that have reached sexual maturity and thus capable of reproducing. Adults are considered to be a social notion and a legal one in the human world. As opposed to "minor" or "non-adult" an legal adult is a person who has achieved an age at which they are majority. They are considered responsible, independent and capable. A legal adult can be called a major. There is a general belief that the threshold at which an individual can legally become an adult is 18. However, this can differ based on the legal rights and country and also on the psychological state.

Human development is the time in which full physical and mental maturation has been achieved. The majority of people believe that adulthood starts at 20 years or older. Middle age starts at about 40 years old before being followed by an old age of about 60. There are three major levels of adulthood: the early years of the age of adulthood (18 up to the mid-30s) and middle adulthood (mid-30s to mid-60s) as well as the final stage of adulthood (mid-60s to death). When we reach the early stages of adulthood (between 20-40), our bodies have reached full maturation although our height and weight could increase slightly. As we enter the first years of our adulthood, we're physically and mentally at the peak. Strength of muscles, reaction timing, the ability to sense and cardiac function are all at their peak.
